What is jVideoDirect?
jVideoDirect is an innovative and feature-rich video sharing component for Joomla. It scales from a simple video gallery to a video sharing portal. It is licensed under GPLv3.
What can it do for you?
It allows you to create and run your own video gallery or video sharing portal. With very little knowledge required you can now have a website just like youtube.com, dailymotion.com and best of all, its core component with most features are 100% free to download and use.
What are the key features?
jVideoDirect present your website videos in a well organized and elegant style. It handles video upload, video fetching, server-side processing and video playback.
We use ajax technology to craft jVideoDirect in many places. jQuery is widely used to enhance it's speed, effect and user friendliness. jVideoDirect can also handle up to 2 video qualities namely SD and HQ/HD.
Apart from all other standard features like "add to favorite", "add to playlist" and etc... Users can create their own channels. Assign name to channel and share to all their friends with a very short permalink url. Users can also share a private channel to non site registered friends. All they required is the password for this channel assigned by channel owner. Not only channels can be shared, groups and even a single video can be shared by users using the same method. Do I need any particular technical skills to install and operate jVideoDirect?
The technical obstacles in configuring jVideoDirect go beyond those of Joomla! You will need good HTML, PHP and PERL knowledge to set it up the software. Additionally, you need competent server management skills so you can understand the MENCODER and FFMPEG software that is used to convert video files. If you are a beginner to Joomla, please do not attempt to install or subscribe it.
There are so many parameters in the backend configuration, will i get confused?
All of them are needed to configure jVideoDirect. We try our best to organize it in an clean and easy to manage layout. Most parameters are self explained and we have written a "comment" next to all parameter to explain it features. Some of them even include a mini tool.
Can video be uploaded in the backend?
Initially, jvideodirect was designed for large scale video user portal, many functions are designed and made in the point of view of end-users. In the backend, only administrative features are provided. Now, it has been modified for smaller scale video gallery.
Instead of using fancy uploader to upload one by one, jVideoDirect allows administrator to import a single video or in batch. video fetching is only available in the frontend.

Try the component before Subscribing

Please make sure you try to install it first before subscribing so you get a feel for the component. It will give you a good overview of jVideoDirect.
